DAY 142
NEW ENGLAND & THE CANADIAN MARITIMES
Day 142 • Despite not really doing much, today felt like a whirlwind. We got up, showered, cleaned the boat, packed the bikes, loaded up on water, and then asked for a late checkout so we could spend some time with our friends Bruce and Linda. They kindly drove us to the store for provisions, and then we took them out for lunch. We rushed back to the marina where we had our worst experience ever undocking the boat due to high crosswinds. It was embarrassing. After try number two, we hightailed it out of the marina, never to show our faces there again. We anchored just in time for a meeting and then pushed to complete our remaining work for the day. Afterwards we replaced the water pump, which recently broke, leaving us to foot pump all our water from a single sink. (On Novi we had two sinks with a hand pump each, so the last several days have felt rather primitive.) Finally, we made time to relax in the cockpit where we watched the sunset and little sailboats race around the anchorage. Luckily, we had leftovers, which made for an easy dinner.
