1986 S2 11A
Before we left for the Bahamas in the spring of 2025, we started casually shopping around for a bigger boat. We had a pretty good idea of what we wanted for our new home. We compiled a list of sailboat makes and models we felt fit our needs. The S2 11A was at the top of our list.
We found Origami online and fell in love instantly. She was a gorgeous freshwater boat, in great condition. However, she was landlocked and overpriced. We moved on and crossed over to the Bahamas. We thought maybe if we were lucky, she would still be available when we returned. Towards the end of our three months in the Bahamas, we checked on the listing. Not only was she available, but the price had dropped considerably. After researching transportation costs, we were ready to make an offer.
We purchased the new boat on Evan’s birthday and left for the States shortly after. We crossed back over in our little Novella, knowing we had a lot of work ahead of us, but also amazed that we got exactly what we had wished for.
What we love about the S2 11A:
Encapsulated ballast keel
U-shaped dinette to double as office space
Large windows to let in lots of natural light
Modern layout with plenty of headroom
MAKING OUR WAY TO THE COAST
DE-RIGGING
DE-MASTING
TRANSPORT

REFIT
Origami recently splashed after sitting on the hard for just over a month. Our initial focus was on bottom work. We moved on board as soon as she hit the water. Now we work to check off all of the needed upgrades to get this sailboat ready to cruise!
Main Projects:
Bottom work - thru-hulls, seacocks, paint
New rigging and mast wiring
Install navigation and electronics
Solar panels and lithium batteries
New arch with dinghy davits
