DAY 117
NEW ENGLAND & THE CANADIAN MARITIMES
Day 117 • We’ve completed our longest passage to date, covering 273 nautical miles and taking about 56 hours. We’re growing our skills as a crew and improving the ways we support each other offshore. While it was difficult at times, the wildlife sightings more than made up for any uncomfortable moments. We have added the North Atlantic thresher shark, what we believe to be short-beaked common dolphins, and maybe Atlantic white-sided dolphins to our species list. That thresher shot straight out of the water several times as we entered Cape Cod Bay, and it took us a while to even realize it was a shark. For now, we’re happy to have a quiet anchorage while we focus on rest and recovery.
