DAY 38

NEW ENGLAND & THE CANADIAN MARITIMES

Day 38 • Last night, as we crawled into our pizza-shaped bed, we declared in unison, “I don’t like it here.” Our hidey-hole from the forecasted high winds felt almost dangerous - a poor choice. So shortly after 4 am this morning we high-tailed it out of the salt pond, leaving all the boats and their questionable anchors behind.

Four hours later we arrived in Newport where we were greeted by waving arms—people we actually knew! We rowed over and chatted with a couple we had met back when Origami was on the hard in New Bern. Soon after catching up, they had to set sail, so we all waved goodbye. That’s just how cruising life goes.

We worked, napped, and then went to shore for our first taste of what seems to be a great stop! We are looking forward to some long walks while soaking up the scenery and history.
