DAY 148
NEW ENGLAND & THE CANADIAN MARITIMES
Day 148 • For months, the captain has expressed his desire to buy a new main sail. Our current sail is original to the boat, and it is looking rough. However, the first mate believes that we should continue to use the sail until it breaks, and argues that a new sail is not in the budget. Of course, the sail ripped the day we came into Belhaven, leaving the crew split between buying new and repairing the old.
Long story short, we got lucky! Remember that S2 we met on Friday? Turns out he just happened to have the exact sail we needed as a spare. It is in great condition, and he generously gave it to us in return for some help with his batteries. We can agree that we are both very happy now!
